Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions govern the use of SpeakBrit Academy's tuition services. By booking an assessment or enrolling, you agree to them. If you are enrolling a child, you confirm you are their parent or carer and accept these terms on their behalf.

Our service

SpeakBrit provides live, online English tuition with native British teachers, for children, teens and adults, in small-group or one-to-one formats. Classes are delivered over video conferencing at scheduled times agreed with you. SpeakBrit Academy is an online-only business — all lessons, enquiries and support are provided remotely.

Free assessment

We offer a free, no-obligation assessment before you enrol. It carries no charge and does not require payment details.

Fees and payment

• Courses are charged as a monthly subscription. Current prices are shown on our website and are in GBP.
• Payments are taken securely through our payment provider. By subscribing, you authorise recurring monthly payments until you cancel.
• A 10% sibling discount is available for families enrolling more than one child — contact us to arrange it.

Your right to cancel (cooling-off period)

If you're a consumer signing up online, UK law gives you a 14-day cooling-off period from the date you enrol, during which you can cancel for any reason. Because we begin lessons promptly, at your request, if you cancel after your first class has taken place within those 14 days, we'll refund you in proportion to any lessons you haven't yet had — you won't be charged for classes you didn't receive. If you cancel before your first lesson, you'll receive a full refund. To cancel within this period, email complaints@speakbrit.com.

Cancellation after the cooling-off period

• After the initial 14 days, our courses are monthly rolling. You may cancel at any time, effective from your next billing date.
• To cancel, email complaints@speakbrit.com before your next payment date.
• We don't refund the days remaining in a month that has already been paid for and started — cancellation simply stops the next month's payment from being taken.

Rescheduling and missed classes

We ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to reschedule a class, so we can offer the slot to another student if needed. Classes cancelled with less notice, or missed without notice, may not be eligible for a make-up session. We're always happy to be flexible where we reasonably can be — just get in touch.

Your responsibilities

• Provide accurate information and a suitable device, internet connection and quiet space for lessons.
• For children, ensure an appropriate level of parental awareness and supervision around online lessons.
• Treat our teachers and other learners with respect. We may suspend or end tuition for abusive or disruptive behaviour.

Recordings and intellectual property

Lessons may be recorded for the learner's benefit and for quality and safeguarding. All teaching materials, recordings and content provided by SpeakBrit remain our intellectual property and are for the enrolled learner's personal use only. They may not be copied, shared or redistributed.

Safeguarding

The safety of children is our priority. All teachers working with under-18s hold an Enhanced DBS certificate. Please see our Safeguarding Statement for full details. Parents remain responsible for supervising their child's wider use of any device or platform outside of lessons.

Liability

We provide our service with reasonable care and skill, in line with the Consumer Rights Act 2015. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited (such as liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence). Our total liability for any claim relating to our services is limited to the fees you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Changes

We may update these terms or our services from time to time. We will give reasonable notice of material changes.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and subject to the courts of England and Wales.
