Who this policy applies to

From lessons

Our lawful bases
We rely on: contract (to provide the lessons you have signed up for); consent (for example, for marketing emails or optional recordings, which you can withdraw at any time); legitimate interests (to run and improve our service); and legal obligation (for example, tax records and safeguarding).
Children's privacy
We take particular care with children's data. We collect only what we need to teach a child safely and effectively, and we deal with the parent or carer, who provides consent. We never use children's data for marketing or profiling, and we do not share it with third parties except the trusted providers needed to deliver lessons (below) or where we are required to by law or to protect a child.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with trusted service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract, including:
- Our payment provider (Stripe) to take payments securely
- Our video platform (Zoom) to deliver live classes
- Our website and learning platform providers (including hosting and our membership/LMS tools)
- Our messaging and email providers (including WhatsApp for enquiries, and our email service)
- Our teachers, who see only the information needed to teach their students
We may also disclose information where required by law, or where necessary to protect the safety of a child.
Lesson recordings
Where live sessions are recorded, recordings are used to help learners review their lessons and to support quality and safeguarding. They are stored securely and access is limited to the relevant learner or parent and authorised SpeakBrit staff. If you would prefer your child's sessions not to be recorded, please tell us.
How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes above, or as required by law (for example, financial records are kept for six years). When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access your data; to have it corrected; to have it erased; to restrict or object to its use; and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email privacy@speakbrit.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Our website uses essential cookies needed for it to function correctly — for example, to keep you logged in and to process checkout securely through our payment provider. If we add analytics or advertising cookies in future (for example, to measure how our ads are performing), we will update this section and ask for your consent where required by law before those cookies are set.

Some of our providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place as required by UK data protection law.
